FLUID BED DRYER (FBD)

Fluid Bed Dryer (FBD) is a kind of equipment used extensively in the pharmaceutical industries to reduce the moisture content of pharmaceutical powder and granules. The wet solids are lifted from the bottom and suspended in a stream of air (fluidized state).

FBD work on the principle of fluidization, a process in which hot gas or air is introduced into the spaces between solid particles. Upward forces on the particles increase as the air’s velocity increases causing them to equal the gravitational forces below.
